A Happiness Challenge

“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

~ Abraham Lincoln

How happy are you right now? What makes you happy? Do you even know? We make it our business to know what makes others happy- our partners, parents, children, friends, boss etc. We even make their happiness a priority in our own lives. We’re regular purveyors of happiness…for others. But have you spent time contemplating what makes you happy? I’m not talking about things like, fantasizing you won the lottery or discovering that some long lost relative left their entire estate to you. I’m talking about in daily life.  What parts of your life routine puts a smile on your face, creates joy in your heart, gives your soul the warm fuzzies and results in a sigh of contentment?  Do you know? Here is my challenge to you- spend the next week raising your own awareness about what makes YOU happy. Don’t force it but tune in to it. Keep your journal close by and when you experience moments of happiness, your own happiness, make a note of what you were doing, thinking about, listening to, who you were talking to etc. We often rely on our external world to provide us with happiness when in reality, happiness is an inside job. Your happiness begins within you. Knowing and embracing the unique parts of your life and daily routine that bring you happiness can make a world of difference in the quality of the life you lead.

So, are you up for the challenge? Will you let me know how your happiness challenge goes?
