If you are a DIY person and love the artistic types of things, then this is the festival for you. September 27, 28, and 29, 2012 in Tucson is a great artsy festival. I’ve been to it when they had it in Phoenix and had a blast. My son was still very young when I took him, but I am not sure if I would take him now that he is a toddler. I would advise taking an older child that loves crafty things or even making this a day out with your friends.
This year, parking and entrance into the event is free! What’s even better is that your ticket is good for all 3 days, so you can come back as many times as you want. There a lot of free classes and demos on projects that are newer or things you would like to learn. This is why the older kids will enjoy attending.
If you love sewing or working with material, there are tons of booths with hard to find patterns and material for your special projects. Quilts are everywhere and you can take pictures with permission from the vendor. Sometimes they also sell the kits and you can complete them as well. There are also needle-arts with so many variations it can really blow your mind! The crafts are very cool because you can often pick up a few things to incorporate into crafting with your kids and making presents for people. Beading, dolls, embossing, iron on projects, miniatures, scrapbooking, and a really long list of other types of artistic items are showcased at this festival. This is a DIY dream! If you would like more information about their other locations, you can contact them directly on their website. Happy crafting!
