Arizona Events in October 2012 Part 1

October is the beginning of great events for us as a family because the weather is slowly descending into what should be fall weather.  Because the weather is becoming more tolerable, more events are going on and many end up conflicting.  I have chosen some of the coming attractions based on my experiences with them and also family friendliness.

Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show -October 26-28th, Phoenix Convention Center.  This festival is actually quite unique.  It features artisans and unique items.  They have a kidzone with hands on activities.  If you sign up online, you can get a coupon to bring a friend for free and if you bring a food donation, you can get a discount ticket.  Parking is also discounted if you check the website for their special parking.  I went to this festival when it was Anaheim many years ago and it was really neat.  We found a lot of really unique gift items for the holidays.

Pumpkin Days & Corn Maze – October 1-November 11, 2012.  This extended event has a corn maze, train ride, petting zoo, farm theme activities and much more.  If you check out the website, there is a coupon for a dollar off.  It’s a great event for the kids who have never been on a farm.

Buckelew Farm Pumpkin Festival & Corn Maze – October 6-28.  Weekends only.  Wagon rides and u-pick pumpkins at 50 cents a pound.  The corn maze is also a weekends only event.  It’s a great event for those who live in the Tucson area or want to get away from Phoenix.

Freeman Farms -October 6-28.  Weekends only.  Performing horses, dogs, pumpkin patch, farm inspired merry-go-round, kids train, petting zoo, hay rides, corn maze, etc.  There will also be fresh corn, gourds, squash and other vegetables to purchase.

Wild Western Festival -October 19-21, 2012.  Glendale. There will be gunfights, stunt shows, American Indian Dancers, trick horses, magic shows, etc.  They will also have a kids corral where there will be a petting zoo, train, and other events involving the World Wildlife Zoo.  Costume contests, chuck wagon cook offs, steampunk contest, food, gifts and other Hollywood actors.  Free parking and ADA accessible.

Fall Pumpkin Celebration – October 6-28.  Weekends only.  Old fashioned pick your own pumpkins, fall vegetables and apples.  Hayride, play area, corn maze, all you can eat breakfast are some of the activities available at this farm.  It’s out of the city, so you might be cool enough for a jacket!
