Although we are still in winter, there are plenty of things to do that are fun and involve all levels of abilities due to our great weather. Here are some of the fun things that are coming up in February:
Harlem Globetrotters -February 9th at the USAirways center. This year the fans choose a new rule for them to incorporate into the game. This is a great event for families with young kids as it is more interactive than a regular basketball game. It is a great way to introduce the game to kids.
Arizona Renaissance Festival -February 9-March 31st. This a mostly family-friendly event. Just be mindful on the days that adults dress up for special events, it might be wise to plan around them. Some of the adults aren’t mindful of little children when picking clothing, but they do have areas for children to do other things. There are rides, so bring extra money for those as they require tickets.
Diamondbacks Fanfest -February 9th from 10 am-5 pm. This is the extreme Diamondbacks fan appreciation with autographs, fun zone, base running, clubhouse tours, etc. Get there early as the lines to get in are long and things go fast.
Parada del Sol -Pro Rodeo and Historic Parade in downtown Scottsdale. Parade is February 9th. See website for rodeo information. After the parade, there is a huge block party with bounce houses and all sorts of vendors. Be prepared to walk a little distance from where you have to park your car.
VNSA Book Sale -February 16 and 17 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. If you love books as much as I do, this is the event for you. Bring cash and your own cart or bags. It’s also a great way to pick up some cheap books for kids to bring out when travelling or various times of the year.
Peoria Police Department Bicycle Safety Rodeo -February 9th. 9 am-2 pm. This is a bicycle safety event with the Peoria Police Officers assisting children under the age of 12 in riding and safety. There will be inflatables and various vendors there. There will be opportunities for the kids to take pictures in police uniforms, etc.
These are only some of the events for this month, but this is when Arizona is in it’s prime season so there will be many more. Enjoy!
