April works full time in higher education balancing her time between her special needs son, handsome husband, elderly mother, and new baby coming in May 2014. She has a background in theatre, film, and television but somehow stumbled into the educational field. She loves spending time with her family, dreaming of the beach and organizing her house.

Arizona Things to Do in Early March 2013

AZ MAMA MARCHFirst Saturday for Families – For kids ages 4-12 years, ASU opens its Art Museum to families for free on the first Saturday of each month.  You can stroll through the museum and make crafts related to the exhibits.  No registration required and you can take home whatever you make.

Yo Gabba Gabba! Live -March 10th.  Their show is titled, “Get the Sillies Out.”  There should be some new music and surprises for the little fans.  Located at the Comerica Theatre those who are under 1 year old are free.

Anthem Days – March 9-10th.  They will have an egg hunt, inflatables, a variety of vendors, food, music, sport fishing education, salsa contest, carnival, and crafts.  There is so much to do that your family won’t want to leave!

Dolly Sanchez Memorial Easter Egg Hunts -March 30th.  Free if you bring a canned good to donate.  There are vendors, egg hunts by age, food and all kinds of activities.  There have been petting zoos and miniature horse rides as well.  Some of the activies have a small fee, but it’s a lot of fun.

Ostrich Festival -March 8-10th.  They have a parade, a fun run, animal shows, sign language show, and all different kinds of activities.  The events have a fee, except for the parade, so you will need to check out the website for fee information.

Home & Garden Show -March 1st-3rd.  This year they are doing a Wheel of Fortune Contestant Search, Dog Fashion Show, Kids Coloring Test, Elite Dog training, U of A Master Gardern Seminars, and many home improvement seminars.  Sign up for the emails and you can get discounts and watch for the coupons in the newspaper.

Deer Valley 2nd Annual Walk for Education-March 9th. The walk is intended to highlight the importance of education in the community.  There will be prizes for some student walkers.

m7 Street Fair – March 2nd.  The Street Fair will have vendors, events for kids, local bands, food vendors, etc.  The event is free, but bring cash for various vendors that you might want to purchase from during the event.

Cave Creek Annual Archaeology Expo -March 2nd.  Tons of hands on exhibits for children and hikes scheduled during the event.  Make sure you are prepared for the hikes.  Booths, crafts, and demonstrations will also be a key feature of this event.

Exclusively Little -March 2nd.  For kids younger than 6 years, there will be a stuffed animal competition and so many activities including a petting zoo, entertainment, game booths, and more!  McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.  Free, but some things are extra.

Spring Training!  Oakland A’s  or Milwaukee Brewers or Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers or  San Francisco Giants or Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies or Los Angeles Angels or Chicago Cubs or Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres or Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals or Cleveland Indians and Cinncinati Reds  – There are many different combinations of games to visit over the next month or so.  Check out the website of the ones you wish to visit for games times and prices.

This is Arizona’s High Season, so there will be more events coming up!  Enjoy the outdoors while you can!
