This time of year there are tons of things to do. The weather is beautiful and everyone that has been cooped up all summer are running from event to event just to be outdoors. My family is no exception to this and we are excited that cooler weather is finally here. I have compiled a list of some of the coolest things to do in November with your family. Enjoy!
The Polar Express -Williams. (See website for dates.) If you are familiar with the book and the movie, you and your family will enjoy this neat adventure. Travel to the North Pole to see Santa and his elves while enjoying hot cocoa and cookies on the train. The story will be read and Santa will visit with each family. Make a day of it or stay over night, it’s a great way to start the holiday season. We are planning on doing this soon!
Orme Dam Victory Days -Fort McDowell, Nov. 15-17. Pow Wow, BMX racing, golf tournament, rodeo, parade, softball tournament, food, arts & crafts, 5k run, and basketball. There is an activity for everyone! It’s a great way to connect to another culture and teach your kids about Arizona.
Anthem Tallest Tree in America Lighting -Anthem. Nov. 16th. 5:30-8 pm. Concert and tree lighting. Be prepared for crowds as it has always been really hard for us to see the actual lighting in the past due to the amount of people there. If you don’t care about the lighting or concert, come back during the week when it’s not so crowded and you can see the tree and/or Santa without the crowds. There was no wait when we did that.
Harvest Festival at Encanto Park -Phoenix. Encanto Park. Nov. 23-24. Fee to attend, but see website for details. There are many activities for the kids like pony rides, hayrides, petting zoo, and more. Some rides are extra.
American Heritage Festival -Queen Creek. Nov. 23-24. This is the 11th year for this event. It’s a great opportunity to show your kids a little bit of American history in our backyard. There are costumed performers from many different eras, battle re-enactments, crafts, historical music, fashion show, and more.
Desert Gathering Jewish Music Fest – Nov. 17. Phoenix. Steele Indian School Park. 4- 9 pm. Free. Family events include arts and crafts, kids events, display from the MIM, vendors, authentic Jewish food, and special Jewish musicians sharing their talents.
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony -Nov. 21. Scottsdale. This event is open to the public and hosts a variety of events from Dorothy Hamill christening the ice skating rink, Santa Claus, crafts for kids, magical snowfalls, and more. This is a great opportunity for families to check out a local resort while enjoying the event.
The Ice Den Presents Magical Moments on Ice -See website for specific dates and times. Scottsdale. Skaters of all ages will participate in this exhibition from the ones who are on their way to the Olympics to the ones just starting out. It’s a great event to start the holidays.
These are only some of the really cool events coming up this month. December will be packed, so I will have your December list soon! Enjoy!
